The death of Julius
On 15 March 44 BCE, the Roman dictator Julius Caesar was murdered. There are several accounts of this incident, but the most famous and probably most accurate is the one that was written by Caesar's biographer Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus (c.70-c.135), who seems to have had access to imperial archives and may have consulted eyewitness accounts.
My Life Story Thats Matter
I was born into a patrician family, the gen Jula, which clamed descent from lulus, son legendary Trojan prince Aeneas, supposedly the son of the goddess venus. the cognomen"caesar" originated, according to pliny the Elder, with an ancester who was born by caesarean section from the latin verb to cut it,( caedere, caes).
I left Rome and i join the army, where i won the "civic crown" for my part in an important siege. i was on a mission to bithynia to secure the assistance of king nicomedess fleet, I spent so long at my court that rumours of an affair with the king arose, which i would vehemently denty for the rest of my life.
When i return to Rome i was elected military tribune, a first step in a political career. i was elected quaester for 69BC, and during that year. i delivered the funeral oration for my aunt julia.
I entered into a political alliance with crassus and pompey that was to dominte Rome politics for several years.
